Perth Thunder is the Western Australia Ice Hockey Team in the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). On October 16th 2011 Perth Thunder were officially granted a franchise in to the AIHL starting in the 2012 season after fulfilling the requirements of the provisional license in 2011. Western Australia is brimming with talented hockey players who are eager for the opportunity to become a part of the AIHL, the highest level of Ice Hockey in Australia. The Perth Thunder is the first team from our amazing state to reach the national competition. The 2012 season will begin in April 2012 and Perth Thunder will be on the schedule, with their home games at Perth Ice Arena in Malaga.

Perth Thunder is pleased to announce that they will be offering work experience positions for the Thunder's games. Students in the related fields (event management, Tourism and sports recreation) are invited to apply for work experience opportunities with the Perth Thunder in their inaugural 2012 season. In addition to gaining valuable hands on experience at a national level sporting competition within a high pressure environment; following a successful placement you will also be provided with a letter of reference for future employment opportunities.

Event Management work experience opportunities include

Assisting in the implementation of event set up

Hands on event experience opportunities including runners, merchandise desk, door staff, ticketing, entertainment supervisors, ushers, food & beverage supervisors. Students will gain a comprehensive insight into each area of operation

Assist in the implementation of promotional and marketing strategies

To be eligible for any of the opportunities above, applicants must meet the following criteria

Currently studying an event management or tourism degree at University or Tafe

Highly driven & motivated individuals who can work alone or as part of a team

High interpersonal skills

Available to attend a work experience meeting the week of April 30th 2012 (after 6pm)

RSA will also be of assistance with your application but is not essential

Work Tasks - As part of your agreement we also require you to work the following dates from 3:30PM to 7:00PM (games kick off at 4:30PM).
