| The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow rolls into Perth |
|
Now in its 14th year, Roadshow 2012
will gather together a gaggle of fresh and familiar Festival faces and send
them out into local theatres and performing arts centres across Australia to
share the Comedy Festival cheer. For over two months as the Melbourne International Comedy Festival comes to an end, Roadshow 2012 will hit the dirt track, with 93 performances in 67 Australian towns. From Devonport to Darwin, Brisbane to Bunbury and everywhere in between, the funniest thing on wheels will be causing a ruckus as it cruises into neighbourhoods with the aim of spreading some silliness. This year’s line up reflects the range
and diversity of the 2012 Comedy Festival, with acts travelling the country
ranging from stand-up to musical and sketch comedy. Headlining in Perth are Cal Wilson (‘Spicks and Specks’, ‘Thank
God You’re Here’ and ‘Good News Week’) , Joel
Creasey (Perth boy winner of Best Newcomer Award in Melbourne 2010) , David Quirk (Winner 2011 Melbourne Fringe
Festival Brisbane Powerhouse Innovation in Theatre Award), Harley Breen (Winner 2011 Piece of Wood Award Melbourne Comedy
Festival), Marina Franklin (New York
based with appearances on Jay Leno Show, Craig Ferguson’s Late Late Show and
NBC’s Last Comic Standing Season II) and Smart
Casual (Roger David and Fletcher Jones Australia’s smartest, most casual
musical comedy duo 2008 Raw Comedy National Finalists). It’s a road trip on funny juice disguised as a national tour. Why not come along for the ride! “The Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow has such chalk and cheese personalities delivering such a wide assortment of gags, it has everyone’s humour covered” – The Sunday Times, WA |

Prepare your funny bones Perth, the
comedians have been released and will be making their descent on the city in
June. Lock up your serious side and throw away the key, because these new and
established artists are dangerously funny.
